This position performs a variety of supervisory and advanced accounting functions, including the supervision of accounting staff performing the monthly general ledger close of the Company, coordinating annual external audits, liaising with various department heads and senior management and participating in special projects as applicable. General Ledger Accounting Close / Financial Reporting Supervises, coordinates and assists with all aspects of monthly general ledger close process, including reviewing and processing journal entries. Ensures account reconciliations are performed timely and reconciling items are addressed. Reviews and analyzes results and investigates any unusual items. Prepares reporting package for monthly reviews. Monitors and understands all systematic processes being performed within the accounting and operational accounting groups to the extent that such processes impact the monthly close; maintains integrity of accounting records and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Staff and Project Management Coordinates and supervises the monthly close process. Works closely with the accounting staff, as well as the Assistant Controller. Serves as a resource for the Controller and Assistant Controller on a wide variety of subjects and provides assistance on various special requests. Serves as a point of contact for audit requests by the Company?s external auditor; coordinates the collection of substantially all data related to the annual audits. Miscellaneous FunctionsAssists with information requests from other areas of the business. Assists with various new business initiatives; assists with the implementation of new accounting standards, controls and processes; participates in special projects.Job Requirements Education Bachelor?s degree in Accounting Master?s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferredExperience Four years of experience in accounting/financial management, including two years of supervisory experience and experience in wide variety of general accounting functions, including maintaining general ledger, analyzing accounts, resolving discrepancies and financial and management reporting Audit experience and CPA preferred Hedge fund accounting or auditing experience a plus Experience in back-office trading operations and/or logistics preferred (e.g., resulting in an understanding of how P&L, trade and pricing data relates to or affects data in the accounting system).Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Licenses Significant understanding of accounting, financial and work flow processes with the ability to identify/control weaknesses and implement process improvements (best practices) Familiarity with mark-to-market concepts, SFAS 133, SFAS 157, and SFAS 161 Ability to organize multiple responsibilities, prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work independently and propose solutions Ability to adapt to changing environment and responsibilities Proficiency with MS Word and Excel Proficiency with general ledger and consolidation systems (experience with Hyperion Essbase preferred) Familiarity with query programs (experience with Showcase query or other SQL based program preferred) Strong analytical and documentation skills Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills Detail-orientedEquipment Used PCWorking Conditions Fast-paced trading floor environment Interacts closely with management and auditors Requires working extended hours as nee
