CO-Colorado Springs NO RELOCATION FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS POSITION. CANDIDATES RESIDING IN THE GENERALCOLORADO SPRINGS AREA WILL BE CONSIDERED Position Overview:
The Product Design Engineer 2 acts as a liaison between the engineer and the drafter to ensure that system hardware is documented per military requirements. Position duties include, but are not limited to the following functions:
• Develops concepts and designs layouts of complex mechanical or electrical equipment, parts, and assemblies and creates computer aided product definitions and documentation. • Uses engineering principles and techniques plus Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3-dimensional modeling software tools to perform job responsibilities, which include the ability to use standard engineering and mathematical models, as applicable, to analyze design results. • Works on a variety of projects and tasks, following defined procedures and practices. • Accurately estimates workload in terms of hours and time necessary to complete assigned projects. • Uses engineering and design models to calculate dimensions and tolerances to ensure form, fit, function and manufacturability of components and assemblies. • Performs component research to recommend design alternatives, and contributes to technical designs and documentation. • Consults with engineering and integrated supply chain personnel to verify reliability of design. • Prepares for and facilitates internal and external product reviews and resolves comments generated during those reviews. • Ability to apply analytical and creative thinking to solve problems. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Tasks require a high degree of responsibility and accountability. • May perform other duties as assigned. Has good background in drawing management and control, working with data sourcing via drawing management tool. Basic Qualifications:
BS degree and 1 years relevant experience. In lieu of degree, 9 years of related experience is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance Additional Qualifications:
. • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite software • Experience with AutoCAD or similar software programs. • Solid understanding of military documentation requirements • Ability to independently accomplish tasks that may be sequenced with the work of others. • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Experience with 3D modeling software and Microsoft Project desired. • Knowledge of AFSCN highly desirable.
