We currently have an excellent career opportunity available for a Director of Training Serviceswithin UOP's Training Services organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This position will lead the global training group to ensure consistent and effective delivery of technical knowledge to customers and preparation of career development engineers. The role will supervise two direct manager level reports, one responsible for external customer training and another responsible for UOP's internal career development program. Position Responsibilities:
* Prioritize work processes, define metrics & work closely with counterparts in service to enhance our technical training offerings by establishing clear, common practices while building networks that strive to improve technology training processes & the profitability of our customers. * Work with GM to develop and implement strategies that ensure appropriate resources to meet STRAP requirements, financial responsibility, employee satisfaction & achieve the goal of service 2nd to none. * Raise the awareness of individuals in group by means required to reach a Vision of Zero. Work with technology leaders & appropriate counterparts in R&D and engineering to communicate design and operational issues as part of training courses that could put our employees or customers at risk. * Coordinate efforts with Customer, Technology and Sales Leaders to deliver a portfolio of training programs that enhance our customer and employee capabilities. * Assist in utilization of worldwide KM systems for electronic data management for use as a learning tool. * Suggest systems to be developed and implemented by the Systems group to increase efficiency of internal work processes to meeting internal and external requirements. * Ensure implementation of work processes and metrics across groups to increase productivity & enhance service delivery. * Support other functions including customer, engineering, & sales leaders as required to achieve financial targets for businesses. * Work closely with Technology, Field, Training & Systems leads to utilize resources effectively and meet financial & technical goals. * Implement platforms that increase the amount of customers and employees we train while reducing costs of training on a world wide basis. * Accountable for monthly management of costs & understanding of revenue * Actively engage in and meet timelines of corporate performance management programs. Perform mid & annual reviews including career development discussions. * Set robust goals in January and evaluate performance as required but at least at mid year and year end. * Request feedback from others on all direct reports & share feedback with employee to enable learning and development for personal growth. * Manage resources to meet business needs; developing systems to increase capabilities, ensuring right levels of skills are available in the organization and that people are working at their skill level. * Support career path among groups to ensure building of flexible talent and increase employee satisfaction. * Accountable for setting direction and strategy for technology areas as implemented by technology leads. * Implement a robust career development program that utilizes state of the art technical, cultural, and interpersonal training to prepare employees for the rigors and challenges to life on the road. * Ensure proactive communication with other service, engineering, R&D leads and external customers. * Work with and encourage others to foster an atmosphere of inclusion. * Use the most effective means to provide information to people around the globe. Basic Candidate Qualifications:
* Minimum Bachelors Degree in engineering, education, or training, or equivalent discipline is required. * Over 10 years of experience in technical training, with expertise in training development methodology, adult learning theories, instructional design, and performance improvement disciplines. * Knowledge of process industries including refining, petrochemicals, gas processing and energy industries. * U.S. work authorization. * Ability to travel up to 15% annually and handle evening & weekend work hours as needed. Additional Candidate Qualifications:
* Masters Degree in engineering, education, or training, or equivalent discipline is preferred. * Proven ability to provide innovative training solutions. * Education, curriculum development, instructional design, or stand-up training experience a plus. * Experience in e-learning development a plus. * Proven success in leading large-scale, cross-functional projects. * Team leadership experience a plus. * Highly motivated and dedicated professional. * Willing to do what it takes to meet internal and external customer needs. * Successful experience leading cross-functional initiatives in large global organizations with emphasis on business process improvement, cultural transformation as well as technology adoption. * Excellent leadership & project execution skills & ability to create high performing groups that deliver comprehensive and effective training programs * Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills * Group facilitation experience preferred. * Demonstrated flexible and adaptive problem solving skills; able to find practical and innovative ways to meet goals. * Confident and outgoing and recognizes the importance of "fun" in learning. * High energy and creativity.
