NY-New York Fixed Income Analyst (entry level) New York, NY or Charlotte, NC TIAA-CREF'sGlobal Public Markets is seeking an entry levelFixed Income Analystfor our New York or Charlotte, NC offices. The successful candidate will support a group of research and underwriting specialists focused on fixed income securities across a range of portfolio mandates, including:
TIAA's General Account assets, mutual funds, insurance portfolios, and non-pension accounts. The Research Team supports numerous TIAA-CREF fixed income portfolio mandates that collectively manage over $150 billion of fixed income securities. This analyst position is for a three year period of time with no guarantee that continued employment with TIAA-CREF will be offered at the conclusion of the three years. Primary Responsibilities:
* Work closely with senior analysts who are evaluating risk and return profile of fixed income securities. * Contribute to reports and processes that allow for effective management and reporting of fixed income portfolios. * Run proprietary and 3rd party models using market tools such as Intex, Moody's, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, simulation software, and rating agency models. * Work with senior analysts to develop additional quantitative and analytical tools to enhance security selection and portfolio management. * Perform active surveillance of portfolio holdings in order to identify trends and make recommendations. * Identify and communicate ways to improve underwriting and surveillance practices. * Stay abreast of the credit markets; market technicals (issuance supply and demand) and issuer/deal fundamentals that impact relative value. * Contribute to overall success of the Fixed Income Research Team at TIAA-CREF. Job Requirements:
* 0-2 years experience. * Bachelor's Degree, quantitative and/or business focus. * Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint required, use of INTEX (API) and Bloomberg preferred. * Proficiency with programming tools preferred (Visual Basic, VBA, C , SQL). * An understanding of corporate financial statements or knowledge of structured products preferred. * Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities. * Collaborative work style, teamwork oriented. * Excellent communication skills. * Organized self starter who wants to learn. * Travel for issuer visits or conference attendance required.
