Georgia-Alpharetta Senior Director and Lead Counsel - Business Services needed in the LexisNexis Risk & Information Analytics Group. This is a management position leading law support for a significant business division. The Lead Counsel will:
* Manage the legal risks arising out of the Business Service Group's operations including risks relating to commercial contracts, FCRA, GLBA and other regulatory compliance, data security, content licensing, and new service development; * Work in close collaboration with other legal and functional experts within the Global Law Department and the business and ensure that material legal issues are quickly and clearly communicated to senior management and efficiently resolved; * Counsel the Business Services Group executives regarding legal issues and provide clear and practical legal guidance; * Provide legal and compliance advice to the Business Services Group to ensure that it remains in compliance with all applicable laws; * Manage four group lawyers and several non-attorney legal team members to efficiently provide needed legal services and meet Business Services Group priorities; and * Collaborate and engage with colleagues elsewhere in the Global Law Department to support a responsive, mutually supportive and commercially-focused legal function across the Company as a whole. The Senior Director and Lead Counsel - Business Services will be a key advisor to the executives of the Business Services Group as well as being the senior hands on lawyer focused on the Group. As such he/she will be a first rate corporate lawyer who combines strategic acumen with the attention to detail and expertise that will set minds at rest. They will be able to operate at the most senior levels within the Group and have the ability to sum up complex issues and provide guidance on decision making while being mindful of the commercial stakes involved. In particular the successful candidate for the Senior Director and Lead Counsel - Business Services position must possess the following:
* J.D. from top law school and member in good standing of a bar of the U.S.; * Eight-plus years relevant experience, as least some of which was obtained at a major law firm; * Significant experience in transactions and commercial contracts; * An approach to the legal aspects of deal making that balances risk without stifling entrepreneurialism, along with energy, tenacity, drive and a willingness to make difficult decisions; * Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills * Superb interpersonal, analytical, negotiation and leadership skills, in addition to impeccable ethics, upholding the highest standards of personal integrity consistent with the role of a senior lawyer within the business. The following experience is highly desired:
* a background working with issues related to data privacy, security, FCRA-regulated services and GLBA-regulated data; * in-house experience in a demanding fast-paced environment; and * experience leading other lawyers.
