30 p.m. Performs electrical demolition and construction on all equipment, devices and systems in offices, laboratories, production areas and facilities owned or leased by Abbott in a competitive bid environment. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
. Involved in the demolition and installation of all types and sizes of electrical conduit which requires proficiency in conduit sizing, cutting, bending, threading, anchoring and wire pulling, splicing, and terminations. . Must have knowledge of how to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and schematics.Removes and/or install all types of switches, receptacles, disconnects, power panels, transformers, interior and exterior lighting fixtures, motor control centers, variable-frequency drives, uninterruptible power supplies, lightening protection, and grounding/ bonding. . Install control systems for truck dock locks and levelers, overhead doors, cooler and freezer refrigeration systems and air recirculating/building exhaust fans. Installs hoist and trolley systems, computer-controlled lighting systems, lighting inverters for emergency lighting systems and Fire Alarm systems in addition to wiring and control panels for building security systems. . Complies with all applicable Abbott and OSHA safety requirements for assigned work. . Demonstrate ability to understand Abbott Electrical Standards, NEC, OSHA, and GMP requirements pertaining to construction activities at all Lake County sites. Applies his/her full knowledge of these requirements in the conduct of his/her function. COMMENTS:
. The Senior Electrician is required to work in various locations and environments throughout Abbott Lake County site while performing construction and demolition activities on projects. Must demonstrate capabilities to perform as a lead tradesmen coordinating activities with other trades, contract personal and clients. Some locations contain exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, odors, dirt and dust, humidity, hot and cold temperatures, heights, and confined spaces, which require continuous awareness and conformance to safe working procedures and policies. May be required to work outside during inclement weather and adverse working conditions. ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:
. Errors in judgment while working with more senior trades persons or failure to follow specific safety rules and procedures could result in serious injury to the trades person and others and/or cause significant equipment or property damage. . Errors in not following written or verbal procedures could result in accidentally energizing or de-energizing electrical/ mechanical systems and/or equipment that could result in serious equipment damage, loss of product, serious bodily injury or death. Skills/Experience Requirements Basic/Preferred Qualifications:
. Five or more years related experience in a commercial or industrial work environment, which may include completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program. . Must be an Abbott-qualified Level 4 electrician. . Must possess a valid driver's license. Education Requirements Must have a high school education.
