We are looking for a Unix system administrator with current experience with Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux systems. This position is part of a team providing both local and remote support for a fast-growing corporate computing environment. The successful candidate will have recent experience with Solaris zone technology and with working in a large, multi-site environment. Experience in a Netapp NAS environment is greatly preferred. Essential Functions:
- system administration and management of company Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat Linux (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x, 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x) computer systems platforms and related storage system platforms as applicable. - Provide daily operational support for Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat Linux (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x, 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x) computer systems managed by IT GIS - Ensure that Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat LINUX (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x) computer systems' hardware and software are maintained to a high standard according to Computer Systems Validation or Qualification requirements, where applicable. - Install and upgrade supported Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat LINUX (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x) operating system revisions and modifications. Install patches as necessary. - Perform performance analysis and tuning of the computer systems managed by the organization. - Perform Analyst On Duty function. - Write Installation Qualification (IQ) documentation as required to deliver Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat LINUX (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x) server platform services. - Perform Installation Qualification services as required to deliver Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat LINUX (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x) server platform services. - Deliver and perform necessary system back up and restore services using Symantec NetBackup or other Backup Services software, Tivoli System Enterprise Monitor (TSM), software and related backup software platforms as applicable. (RMAN, RSYNCH). - Deliver and perform system monitoring response services as required to maintain full service capability to expected service expectations. - Mentor other staff as necessary. - Contribute to the development of IT technical strategy and related technical roadmap. - Ensure that the server and storage environment is properly managed and operated at all times. Specifically in the area of Computer System Validation and in the operational adherence to organization SOP's and processes. - Lead small projects. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree is preferred - 5 years experience in UNIX system administration skills and in depth knowledge and experience in the use of operating systems software for Sun Solaris (ver 8.x, 9.x, 10.x), Red Hat LINUX (Enterprise Edition), HP-UX (ver 11.x, 11i.x 10.x) and/or IBM AIX (ver 4.x, 5.x). - Vendor certification in System and Security Administration from Sun desired. - 4-5 years experience installing/upgrading system, application, and utility software and patches using remote administrative tools. - Working knowledge of TCP/IP network fundamentals as they relate to UNIX operating system environments and related backup and storage service environments. - Performance tuning experience, especially with respect to Oracle database support. - Experience implementing, managing, and monitoring OS and application Security components. - Ability to work independently and as part of team. - Superior conceptual, organizational, communication, time management, interpersonal, and problem solving skills. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a team environment. - Ability to work on call rotation providing 24X7 support. - Candidate must have at least 1-2 years experience writing and using PERL, PhP and Shell Scripts. U - Experience using and installing HP Ignite and Depot, Solaris Jumpstart, AIX makesysv, Kickstart for Linux, X-Windows preferred. - Project Management experience preferred.
