The Senior Director, Global Public Relations,heads external communications for the company, including media relations, public relations, and social communications. In this role, the Senior Director plans, executes and coordinates global public relations, media relations, and social communications strategies that cultivate and maintain positive global media coverage for PAREXEL. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Communications, the PR Senior Director also works with other corporate, SBU and functional leaders to build a broad relationship base with media and other key influencers that maximizes the company’s reach, gains awareness for and establishes PAREXEL as the primary thought leader in the global biopharmaceutical services sector. The Senior Director also has experience building a public relations competency within an organization, as well as experience managing a public relations agency.Key AccountabilitiesStrategy and PlanningAssist the VP, Corporate Communications in developing and executing global public relations, media relations, and social communications strategies for PAREXEL that extend market leadership, support business/ growth and respond/ neutralize competitive challenges.Collaborate with domestic and international teams to ensure public relations are aligned to corporate goals and messages .Work with PAREXEL’s global Corporate Communications Council to ensure that internal and external messages are aligned and consistent, while allowing local focus.Manage multiple employees (direct reports).Allocate and manage Public Relations budget.Contribute to development of PAREXEL’s digital communications strategy.Public Relations, Media Relations, and Social CommunicationsDevelop strategic external communications plans for issues management and incident management; lead execution as requiredDevelop public relations, media relations, and social communications strategies to promote expertise and leadership and address significant organization accomplishments and business announcements (acquisitions, product/service launches, Strategic Partnerships, global expansion, etc.)Manage multiple external PR agencies globallyDevelop media strategies that - Partner with Internal Communications and Marketing to integrate PR campaigns for product and program initiatives, maximizing the impact of strategic messages against prioritized targetsQualificationsQualifications/Competencies/SkillsRequired:Seasoned expert in communications and public relations, minimum 15 years experienceStrategic thinker with experience developing and executing long-term plansEffective communicator who can develop a corporate message framework and ensure consistent and comprehensive execution around the worldA hands-on leader who is an advisor, consultant, strategist and implementerAbility to quickly learn complex and dynamic issues and apply creative solutions to developinghigh-impact media relations campaignsAn outstanding presence with the ability to gain credibility, rapport and support with internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive and energetic communicator who is engaging and effective in oral and written communicationsExcellent interpersonal skills - ability to work with executives across diverse functional groups and translate complex concepts into clear, concise and compelling messages for the mediaComfort and familiarity with a rapidly changing, fast-paced industry and office environmentFlexible and adaptable; comfortable with change and in developing new skills to extend impactAbility to lead international projects and counsel diverse leaders with varied agendasProven ability to mentor and develop staff and external resourcesProficient in measuring and reporting on the progress of public relations initiatives against goalsPreferred• Experience in Biopharmaceutical or CRO sectorRequired Work Experience15+ years of senior-level/leadership-level Corporate Communications experience, preferably in a multinational, Fortune 500 company environment and within health care or other highly technical and regulated industrySuccessful Corporate Communications professional with demonstrated track record of success and breadth of leadership experience in PR strategy development and implementation; outstanding writing and editing skillsDevelopment and implementation of crisis communications programsProven leadership in managing domestic and international projects, teams and initiativesSuperior influencing and interpersonal skills, presentation and project managementAble to lead collaboratively while demonstrating a high degree of initiative, drive and accountability, judgment and flexibilityEducationBachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing Communications or Media RelationsTravel up to 25%EEO DisclaimerPAREXEL complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws prohibiting discrimination in employment.
