GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing and coordinating business and operational activities associated with developing post-secondary institutions in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region based on the Laureate model, programs and quality standards and integrating local regulations, economic factors and political requirements into overall strategy. The effective candidate must be able to coordinate and manage multiple activities with various stakeholders including senior level finance and business development professionals and other cross functional internal teams, as well as have working knowledge of the unique aspects of higher education management. Furthermore, this position requires the candidate to develop and analyze financial models, identify educational target markets for acquisition and maintain and develop partner relationships in the MENA region and any corresponding or relevant U.S. institutions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop business in assigned international accounts:
* Lead regional and local office efforts to pursue and close new business opportunities in targeted accounts in a self- managed, cross-functional team environment. * Interface regularly with Corporate Business Development group in Baltimore.2. Lead the development and execution of new business development to ensure robust, validated pipeline activity:
* Develop a new business acquisition plan for management, including specific campaigns, local marketing efforts to be conducted, relevant prospect analysis, etc. * Identify new clients, segmenting market as appropriate and performing market entry analysis. * Activate aggressive follow up procedures to ensure robust frequency of client interaction. * Ensure appropriate team is harnessed to support pursuit and build relationships. * Maintain client database in format usable by other appropriate team members.3. Manage MENA business development activity and pipeline opportunity information in company. Enable accurate financial performance forecasting by supplying appropriate management reports on a regular basis. Support a multidisciplinary team of senior level finance and business development professionals in conducting financial analysis, due diligence and valuation analysis of prospective clients.4. Source and manage potential global partners, programs and service providers as directed.5. Lead merger and acquisition activity in targeted accounts as directed and supported by executive leadership.6. Develop and lead strategic projects as required. 7. Proactively manage multiple and varied stakeholder relationships (internal and external).8. Research and interpret business and customer trends throughout MENA. 9. Solve issues on projects in cooperation and collaboration with other business units/departments.10. Cultivate effective business relationships with management, customers and peers.11. Perform and coordinate research (customer, market, competition and distribution channel analysis) related to strategy development and execution. Experience:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree is required, MBA preferred. * A minimum of 5 -7 years prior related experience in valuation and/or business development (M&A as well as other business development activities), financial reporting or financial planning and analysis. Would consider 2-3 years of business development experience but prefer 5 -7 years. * Previous experience in conducting due diligence or investment management preferred. * Fluency in English is required; familiarity or fluency in French and/or Arabic is advantageous. * 5 plus years of solution selling and relationship building experience. * Must have experience working in the MENA region and have International Corporate experience. * CFA or CPA/CA preferred.
