BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY Perform statistical computations and computer program development. Coordinate the analysis, processing and reporting of data; assist in validating the test data obtained; conduct epidemiological analyses of case-control data, then summarize translate and interpret statistical results. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform descriptive and analytical statistical computations, conduct in-depth epidemiological analyses of case-control data including examination of effect modification and confounding. Translate and interpret statistical results. Assist in validating the data obtained and recommend additional tests and/or modifications by performing analytical statistical computations to test data collection methods. Assist in the design and implementation of computer databases, including establishing coding formats. Organize and prepare data for computer analysis. Assist in the development and revision of routine operating procedures, including means of organizing raw data. Write research progress reports, including summarizing results for the principle investigator. Assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops. Conduct literature reviews and article collection regarding sun exposure and melanoma. Prepare reports, tables, graphs, and other illustrations to facilitate the interpretation of research findings using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs. Organize data for the preparation of proposals for new funding. Assist in the design of a behavioral intervention research study. This may include design of data collection forms and procedures including coding formats for future research data collection; assist in the design of collection of survey data and biologic samples, and developing new and/or revised research methodologies. Assist in the development of protocols for survey data including subject recruitment, follow-up, and data collection which may include computer assisted telephone interview, mailed surveys or in-person surveys. Participate in quality control activities. Maintain confidentiality of data. Perform other duties as assigned. Education Required:
Requires the academic knowledge of a quantitative discipline, such as epidemiology, biostatistics or related area, plus the ability to translate, adapt and apply the knowledge that is generally associated with a Bachelor's degree, supplemented by one or more years of progressively responsible experience in the conduct of epidemiological or social science research or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Required:
Reasonable experience 1-3 years experience with word processing, spreadsheets design, statistical software and reviewing literature is required. Demonstrated ability to function independently is required. Reasonable experience (1-3 years) analyzing epidemiological data, including the use of descriptive statistics and logistic regression using statistical software is required. Reasonable (1-3 years) SAS programming experience is required. Demonstrated ability to provide verbal and written summaries of scientific results is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Desirable Qualifications:
Training in cancer epidemiology is highly desirable (academic knowledge or experience). Training in community and behavioral health is highly desirable (academic knowledge or experience). Experience (1-3 years) in epidemiology, public health or biostatistical research is highly desirable. Knowledge and experience related to skin cancer research is highly desirable. Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics or Community and Behavioral Health is highly desirable. Advanced experience using SAS is desirable. Advanced experience using Excel and Word is desirable. Experience designing and conducting surveys is desirable. Online Application Options Application Type:
