Plan, coordinate, and direct the operation of a specialized program and/or activity in accordance with predetermined program/project goals and objectives. Position Summary:
Organized, efficient, personable candidate sought to facilitate outreach programs, educational visits, private events, etc. Will be responsible for maintaining databases, updating website data, and general administrative support Minimum Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 months of relevant experience. Key Functions and Expected Performances:
General:
* Receive visitors to the Observatory and direct them to the appropriate staff member. * Handle the telephone system, including directing calls, updating outgoing messages, taking messages and sharing astronomy information with the public. * Assist with tours of the Observatory to both unscheduled and scheduled visitors. Administrative:
* Maintain various calendars of Dyer's events and staff, including online calendar. * Maintain filing system of accounts and expenditures and act as the liaison with Departmental Administrators in sending this information. * Maintain various databases for different groups of Dyer's visitors and friends. (Need working knowledge of Microsoft Excel). * Maintain EMMA e-mail database. * Screen and disseminate mail and handle mail requests. * Arrange travel plans as needed. * Arrange meetings and prepare background materials for meetings if needed. * Maintain general filing system for Observatory * Maintain and integrate timely content of Dyer website * Maintain event photo catalog that can be used to show potential customers how observatory's space can be used and decorated for different events Event Management:
* Oversee the logistics of all outreach events and programs including but not necessarily limited to, camps, workshops, public nights, music concerts; including following up with presenters, participants, and parents and assuring that logistical issues are handled. * Assure the maintenance of task sheets and check off sheets for each event * Help the team prepare for and straighten up after events and help with rentals as needed and available. * Maintain and monitor reservation lists. * Oversee on-line payment when it is available * Web posting blurb:

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Shift hours are 8:
00am until 5:
00pm; Monday thru Friday. Will require periodic work at night or on weekends. Salary ranges from $28,475(min) - $39,936(mid) - $51,396(max) annually; dependent upon years of education and experience. Background screens will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information and/or documentation.
