00) Work Location Medical School Campus Worksite Address TACS240 Position General Purpose Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), contribute to the understanding of how kidney development is controlled, what genes are regulating the process of mesenchymal-epithelial transition during kidney development, and define the parallels between kidney development and repair after injury. Essential Duties 1. Perform DNA cloning and mammalian cell transfection. 2. Perform immunocytochemistry and western blotting for protein expression analysis. 3. Perform laser capture microdissection from tissue sections to analyze gene expression. 4. Perform RNA isolation and real time PCR to quantify mRNA levels in samples from cells and the laser capture microdissection. Education and Experience 1. Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's Degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's Degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Additional Education and Experience 1. Preferred:
Experience in performing laser capture microdissection for RNA harvest from embryo frozen sections, mRNA amplification, and real time PCR, DNA cloning skills for recombinant transfer into ES cells, as well as standard laboratory skills including cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, animal husbandry, and western analysis. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 4. Able to work independently while functioning as part of a team. 5.
