Description Searching for an experienced structured finance banker with several years of experience and in-depth knowledge of the credit lending, leveraged finance and corporate finance areas. Candidate needs be known and highly regarded within investment banking and have a large network of external origination relationships. Candidate will have a good understanding of credit and corporate risk and basic modeling skills. Will be responsible for liaising with UBS Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Capital Markets and IBK Industry/Country Groups, as well as their corporate clients, on a daily basis, exploring structured credit financing solutions. Candidate will be responsible for guiding our bankers on what kind of transactions and structures are achievable, filtering, structuring and distribution of risk through the UBS sales infrastructure. Will have the support of the larger team based in Stamford, CT. SLG Head will be in London on a regular basis. Candidate will be the 1st hire of the European team and will have an opportunity to take general responsibility over SLG Europe. The Structured Lending Group:
* The Structured Lending Group ("SLG") is a unique trading team within UBS Credit Trading, that will lend UBS's balance sheet on a committed basis on both primary and secondary markets and subsequently manage and/or distribute risk, leveraging on UBS' coverage and sales teams. * While SLG is built around structuring and distribution of risk, by acting as principal, UBS is able to execute transactions that otherwise may not be possible in the traditional capital markets. * Key investment criteria will include counterparties whose revenues are derived from valuable assets, high credit quality customers who display strong financial strength, clients with long-term contractual relationships or other predictable sources of cash flow. * SLG recognizes profits from investments by hedging in the credit markets, restructuring or transforming risk and distributing risk. In all cases, at lower yields than the investment generates to monetize the present value of a running spread. * On a typical transaction, SLG uses sophisticated credit analysis, structuring and risk management expertise to optimize P&L opportunities for the firm:
(a) buyer of credit risk in most forms and can provide financing against both performing and non-performing assets, (b) work closely with the client and the respective coverage team to negotiate and structure an appropriate transaction, (c) perform due-diligence, drafting and review of all internal and external documentation (including mandate letters, term sheets, loan documentation, offering memoranda, investor and internal credit memos), (d) create our own financial models and undertake all necessary execution responsibilities. * The way SLG structures products or securities will include (a) asset-based financing (equipment, receivables, contractual cash flows, etc), (b) structured real estate credit, (c) counterparty credit solutions, (d) loans, (e) rescue and bridge financing, (f) structured project debt, when stripping project risk is possible lease debt/solutions, (g) restricted security loans, (h) other bespoke solutions. Requirements The prefered candidate must posses a highly entrepreneurial spirit, be a team player, and given the small size of the team have the ability to multitask and perform any duty required to launch the structured lending team in a successful way. * Excellent PC skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel) and related financial technology * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * MBA * Speak European languages such as Italian, French or Spanish * 10 years of structured credit, structured finance, leveraged finance or capital markets experience, or similar functions at a private equity firm or hedge fund * Securitization or asset base lending experience * Experience working with private equity funds Our Offering UBS can offer you an environment geared towards performance, attractive career opportunities, and an open corporate culture that values and rewards the contribution of every individual.
