Overview:
Responsible for the accounting and administration of the Sub Advised mutual funds. Responsibilities:
* Interface daily with fund’s custodian bank, third party administrator, and transfer agent, * Ensure subscription and redemption activities are adequately communicated internally and to the funds transfer agent, custodian bank or third party administrator * Daily reconciliation of portfolio cash accounts with custodian bank and third-party administrator * Identification of funding requirements and overdrafts to ensure sufficient monies are available at the custodian bank to meet settlement of executed transactions * Completion of foreign exchange deal tickets to cover funding requirements * Completion of monthly reconciliation of clearing broker futures and options statements * Completion of regular investment holdings reconciliation’s on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis to custodian bank or third party administrator * Completion of monthly reconciliation of investment holdings, cash, cash equivalents, and forward foreign exchange to the fund’s custodian bank and/or third party administrator * Researching and analyzing discrepancies between Western Asset and the fund’s third party administrator and/or custodian bank. Ensuring that discrepancies are communicated to designated contacts and adequately resolved * Preparation and review of performance returns for designated funds * Creation of accounting reports to meet custom reporting requests * Participation in the monthly Valuation Committee meetings for the funds. * Interface with designated public accounting firms, which audit the funds to ensure that confirmations are completed, audit documentation is prepared and financial statements are reviewed * Assist the team supervisor in establishing operating policies and procedures for the team Competencies:
* The position requires knowledge of multi-currency investments, derivatives and foreign exchange. Knowledge of mutual fund accounting a plus * Proficient communication skills both written and verbal and ability to interact with both clients and managers in other departments * Ability to work in a team oriented environment * Excellent quantitative and research skills and exhibit a strong interest in finance and accounting * Excellent computer skills and detailed knowledge of Microsoft Excel are required Qualifications:
* Undergraduate degree in a related field.
