Speech-Language Pathologist Otolaryngology & Inpatient Rehab Seattle, WA Part-time, 32 Hours/Week Monday - Friday Competitive Salary + DOE Known for innovations in patient care, and named a recipient of the Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence, Virginia Mason Medical Center is a regional referral, teaching and research center. This is a .8 FTE (32 hours per week) position - .6 FTE (24 hours/week) will be in Outpatient Otolaryngology and .2 FTE (8 hours/weeek) will be in Inpatient Rehab. This position evaluates and treats patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive, auditory, and/or swallowing disorders and delays. Entry Level (I) 1. Provides clinical treatment to patients including evaluation and diagnosis, direct treatment, family/caregiver training, and counseling patients and family members regarding status, prognosis, goals and progress. 2. Coordinates patient care with the rehabilitation team including medical staff nurses, physicians, audiologists, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and radiology techs. 3. Coordinates patient care with non-medical staff rehabilitation team members including families, educators, early intervention agency staff and community support service agency staff. 4. Refers patients and family members to other professionals, agencies, and resources as appropriate. 5. Maintains and builds on current clinical knowledge and skills by attending continuing education activities. 6. Participates as a liaison with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care to the clients. 7. Contributes ideas for department and program development. 8. Advances toward assisting level of teaching/training for new staff, students, and interdepartmental classes. Staff Level (II) 1. Meets Entry Level (I) criteria as stated. 2. Trains new staff and students in speech therapy protocols. 3. Acts as primary contact person for speech therapy needs via primary pager and/or primary floor liaison and/or related committees. 4. Instructs in interdepartmental and patient services as related to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department. 5. Assists in department and program development. Entry Level (I) - Required of All Staff Master's Degree Speech and Language Pathology License Washington State as Speech Language Pathologist Certification ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence Certification CPR Staff Level (II) Experience Minimum of 1 year working experience as a Speech Language Pathologist FTE/Status0.5 FTE or greater Clinical Specialist or Senior Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapist Department Criteria As determined by management team Additional knowledge and skill requirements:

Voice & Swallowing Head & Neck Cancer Modified Barium Swallows Inpatient bedside swallow evaluations and treatment FEES evaluations Voice Therapy, including Professional Voice Swallowing Therapy Alaryngeal voicing This role would involve participating in a joint, multidisciplinary voice & swallowing clinic, supporting an active Head & Neck cancer program on both an outpatient and inpatient basis, and working closely with the inpatient rehabilitation team on management of head & neck cancer patients and other inpatients. This position evaluates and treats patients with speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive, auditory, and/or swallowing disorders and delays. 1. Provides clinical treatment to patients including evaluation and diagnosis, direct treatment, family/caregiver training, and counseling patients and family members regarding status, prognosis, goals and progress. 2. Coordinates patient care with the rehabilitation team including medical staff nurses, physicians, audiologists, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and radiology techs. 3. Coordinates patient care with non-medical staff rehabilitation team members including families, educators, early intervention agency staff and community support service agency staff. 4.
