1.0 Position Summary:
The Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Director of Utilization Review and will have open communication with the CFO and Hospital Administration. The Medicare RAC Coordinator will be responsible for:
Managing those accounts affected by the Medicare Audit Contractor program; Will investigate those accounts received under this program; Coordinate all activities associated with RAC requests and appeals. The RAC Coordinator will monitor and evaluate Medicare records for documentation and medical necessity. The RAC Coordinator will be responsible for reporting weekly and monthly findings to facility leadership and treatment team through spreadsheets that will ensure proper tracking and follow up is provided on these accounts. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in a clinical area, healthcare management field, and/or a minimum of 5 years experience in utilization review/case management. Analytical, written and computer skills required. Must have medical terminology; Medicare RAC experience is a plus; must have knowledge of Medicare and third party payor rules and regulations.
