Days Minimum Skills/Requirements Requires an in-depth knowledge of the healthcare field; integrated delivery systems, hospital clinical operations; business plan development and implementation; program/service line development and management, project and process management; performance improvement; financial analysis, planning/budgeting; a working knowledge of clinical processes. General knowledge of areas of the health care organization including regulatory readiness. Requires experience working in a team setting and facilitating team processes. Requires detailed knowledge of nursing, human resource issues, standards based practice, shared governance, operational budget, and financial resources in terms of theories and practices to serve as the resource or educator to other practitioners in the healthcare field. This staff member must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served. Primary Job Functions .Responsible for designated inpatient units and outpatient clinics. Establishes a management model that achieves results. .Serves as Nursing Leader for service line. .Oversees day to day operations for assigned departments and provides mentoring, leadership and supervision for direct reports for key business and operational processes. .Creates organizational responsiveness to the needs of customers; ensures the voice of patients and members are incorporated into service line planning. Creates, implements and maintains a continuum of care model that meets the voice of the customer expectations. .Provides administrative focus for assigned areas across the continuum of care including the health plan, primary care, specialty, outpatient, inpatient and aftercare. .Continuously improves the program through service enhancements, exploration of developmental opportunities, coordination of initiatives across multiple departments, performing benchmarking, market and competitor analysis, understanding quality and cost drivers; through technology evaluation; actively leading performance improvement initiatives and creating business and strategic plans. .Operational and capital planning and budgeting. Accountable for financial outcomes in areas of responsibility. .Engages all physicians within the service line (employed and independent) in creating, implementing, and maintaining best practice care protocols. Develops and maintains productive, successful physician relationships. .Prioritizes key program performance indicators through score card development and management to include clinical outcomes, customer loyalty, staff focus, growth and financial performance. .Supports PHS improvement model through direct learning projects and participation of self/staff and leads deployment. .Leads Lean 6 Sigma improvement efforts across the care continuum to redesign care systems to better support our customers and key stakeholders, eliminate waste, and reduce the cost of care. Green belt certified. .Collaborates with medical directors to ensure quality and operational effectiveness; maintains effective physician/provider communications. .Develops new programs and services as care delivery needs change. .Performs personnel management functions including hiring, coaching, evaluating, counseling and termination. .Develops, implements, and monitors an effective nursing based practice and assures quality care and service is delivered to all patients. .Interacts and coordinates activities with a variety of health care agents, regulatory agencies, and vendors. .Exemplifies high standards of leadership qualities and professionalism. Mentors the staff in developing and achieving professional goals. .Empowers professional staff through delegation of responsibility, authority, and accountability. .Represents PHS in relevant external professional and community activities. .Performs other functions as required.
