This position is based at our Brandt Pike location in Huber Heights, Ohio.Lab Assistants in this branch setting are required to do an equal amount of both specimen processing and data entry duties. Candidate for this position must perform all paperwork, technical, and non-technical procedures required to process and submit specimens. Assigns specific computer generated identification numbers, checks for accuracy, and records all items processed. Forwards accessioned specimens to designated laboratory location(s); and locating and correcting any discrepancies. Learns and keeps familiar with lab procedures and location of stored specimens. Locates specimens and pulls from various departments as requested. Candidate will also prepare laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing; unpack specimens from branches or ports and routes specimens by type to various staging areas; prepare all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments or locations such as staging of specimens; centrifuge, separate serum, and blood smears; aliquots sample for departments; prepare excess specimen samples for storage; and resolve and document problem specimens. Candidate must help to ensure that all specimens are properly packed for shipping according to the SOP for each specimen type. Job Requirements :
This is a fulltime 2nd shift position and the hours are 4:
00 PM - 12:
30 AM Monday thru Friday and perodic Saturday monthly on a rotating basis. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent w /1 year of experience. Candidate for this position must be able to demonstrate at least 3000 KSPH with a 2% or less error rate. Candidate must possess the ability to work OT with no advanced notice, work well under time restraints, work well independently and as a team player in a group of diverse personalities.
