* **Job Summary:** This position will support LLUSS's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. Reports to the Executive Director-Public Affairs. The Director-Public Relations manages comprehensive public relations and media relations programs to support strategic goals of LLUH. Provides public relations counsel, editorial services and crisis planning/response for key strategic initiatives, programs, special projects, events and/or breaking news or potential crises. Ensures a positive and cohesive public image through various collateral materials, publications, websites, and social/digital media and other communication vehicles. Communicates the system mission and vision to both internal and external audiences. Performs other duties as needed. **Job Specifications:** Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism or related field required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum of seven years of public relations or communications experience required. Minimum three years of supervisory experience required (including developing and maintaining budgets). Must have experience serving as a spokesperson in news media, media relations, crisis communication training and social media. Must be able to demonstrate proven communication skills and abilities in writing, public speaking and interpreting concepts/ideas into written and/or verbal form to selected audiences (including news media, general public, staff, volunteers, other healthcare workers, etc.). Strong knowledge of communication and public relations practices, methods and strategies; understand basic management principles. Must be sufficiently well versed to oversee others' work in layout and design, interviewing, writing and photography. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Valid California Driver's License required. Must be able to attend and work evening and weekend events in additional to regular work hours.
