Job Description:POWER is seeking a Senior-level wildlife or fisheries biologist to join the biological resources team in our Anaheim, California office. The successful candidate will possess expertise with Western flora and fauna with emphasis on southern California; will be highly skilled with environmental regulations including NEPA, CEQA, and ESA, experience with federal and state protected species, and discretionary permitting through ACOE, CDFG, and USFWS. Position requires the ability to rapidly and accurately comprehend project issues and effects on biological resources, to interact professionally with clients and technical staff, and to identify solutions to meet client needs. Successful candidates must be able to lead resource level investigations and prepare technical sections of environmental documents, work in multi-resource groups, review the work of staff, mentor and support staff, and operate in an environment of tight schedules and limited budgets. Periodic travel and field work will be required. Primary duties include:
project coordination, preparation of technical sections and reports and conduct resource impact analysis in support of NEPA and CEQA documents, coordination with State and Federal agencies, permit preparation, development of conceptual and final habitat restoration plans, oversight of habitat restoration construction, long-term monitoring of restoration sites, mitigation feasibility studies, and monitoring project areas during construction, and support business development. Additional duties include managing and performing field studies and protocol surveys, habitat assessments and associated mapping. Minimum requirements include:
At least 10-years of experience in the consulting environment and post-graduate degree or equivalent professional experience in wildlife biology, fisheries, ecology, or related field. Relevant experience in taxonomy and in conducting field surveys required. Experience with the southern California ecosystems is a must. GIS and GPS experience and! experie nce with linear facilities projects are pluses. Demonstrable management capabilities, technical
